With people's attention to green and environmental protection, the application of LED products is gradually increasing, and LED industry has been listed as one of the seven strategic emerging industries in the 12th Five-Year Plan. Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) issued the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" for the Development of Semiconductor Lighting Industry, in which the "target output value of 1000 billion yuan by 2020" has attracted the attention of the industry.

Nowadays, China has become the world's largest producer, consumer and exporter of semiconductor lighting products. With the vigorous support of relevant policies and plans during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, China has become a big semiconductor lighting country. As we enter the 13th Five-Year Plan, what opportunities and challenges will semiconductor lighting industry face?

According to the statistics of the Institute of Prospective Industry Research, the volume of LED industry in China is the first in the world, but it is "big but not strong" and lacks of well-known brands. More importantly, there are obvious technical shortcomings in basic fields such as materials.

At present, there is a lack of core technology in the development of LED industry in China, and product patents are monopolized by Europe and the United States. Despite the rapid development of LED industry in China in recent years, the phenomenon of product grade, low product quality and technology level homogeneity is serious. Moreover, the flow of talents in the industry is large, and there is a serious shortage of high-end leading talents and R & D talents.

At the same time, China's LED industry in the development process, but also faces the product application function is too single, the value and price does not conform, seriously divorced from reality, product quality and parameter table is different. Compared with foreign enterprises, there is still a big gap in China's industrial scale.
